Defragment Disk Drives!

This video is intended to show you how to defragment or optimize the disk drives in your computer using the Windows 10 defrag tool.

Other versions of windows will also have a defrag tool of one type or another!

To access the defrag and optimize tool click on the start menu and search for "Windows Administrative Tools" and click it.

The "Defragment And Opimize Drives" option should appear in the list so click on it to select the tool.

Once you have clicked on the menu to start the tool a box should pop up which will show all the disk drives in your computer and it will show if they need to be optimized or defragmented. If the drive is a solid state drive then it should be optimized but if it is an old sata mechanical drive then it will have to be defragmented.

When you defragment your drives all or most of the files will be shifted around on the disk in such a way that the computer will be able to access them a lot quicker than if they were in a fragmented state.

It will be better to set up a schedule to run the tool automatically every month to keep all of your drives in peak condition.
